About the Artist – Sarah Alexander

Sarah Alexander travels extensively and loves to observe and photograph life. She like to explore the way people live; the beauty of their historic buildings; their marketplaces; the way they cook, dress, and go about living their daily lives. When taking photographs, she likes to frame images in ways they are not normally seen – from behind or above, very close or maybe only a segment of the subject. Privy to subjects for only the fractions of seconds they come across her lens, Sarah likes to leave viewers with questions: Where are these people going? What are they cooking, . . thinking . . seeing. . .selling? What is behind this door? Around the corner? What does the rest of that world look like? Sarah likes her photographs to capture the mystery, but never solve it. Her images have illustrated the pages and covers of various travel catalogs and have been displayed throughout Washington, D.C and at the John Hart Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Further, her photographs are featured in the recent book Visions of Santa Fe and hang in the offices of a major energy and research company in San Diego, Ca.
