Artist's Statement
My first interest in photography began with the study of how it came to be. What intrigued me most was the ability of a photograph to create beauty, truth and drama out of the ordinary. I refer to the basic, simple facets of everyday life we either pay no attention to or simply take for granted. My photographs strive to monumentalize what I observe - not merely record a reflection of what I see, but also add importance and appreciation to its interpretation.
My photographs depict beauty and an artistic significance found in the spontaneity of an
expression, the purity of a landscape, the architectural grace of a structure or the drama in nature’s
effect on a city block in the early morning rain. You also will see tenderness in the relaxed position of
a napping kitten. My photographs depict beauty and a significance we often never notice.
