My first interest in photography began with the study of how it came to be. What intrigued me most was the ability of a photograph to create beauty, truth and drama out of the ordinary. I refer to the basic, simple facets of everyday life to which we pay little attention or simply take for granted. My photographs strive to monumentalize what I observe - not merely record a reflection of what I see, but also add importance and appreciation to its interpretation.

Holly Foss is a Washington-area photographer with numerous awards and publications. She has received grants from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her photographs were recognized as a Best Bet in “Around Town” on WETA (PBS) and have been featured on the Fox Sunday Morning News. She earned her B.A. in history and art history at Wellesley College where she also took classes in photography at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has studied photography at the Smithsonian, Photo Works in Glen Echo Park, MD, and the Maine Photographic Workshops. Holly also has shot local events for The Georgetowner, The Capitol Hill Current Voice of the Hill newspapers, and Wells Fargo.
