Artist Statement

My current work is inspired by life with OCD and specifically obsessive-compulsive intrusive thoughts. My sculptural pieces are constructed using handmade or wheel thrown forms or vessels attaching items like spikes, shards, and even fragments of broken ceramics. I liken my thoughts to these items that protrude or intrude on these often very time-consuming structural vessels. While my hands are in clay, I am able to quiet my mind and reflect on thoughts that I often struggle with. This process allows me to further explore myself and issues in which there would otherwise be no escape to.
